A Look Into My Blog Planner {Make Your Own}

I wanted to share my blog planner with you all because I am such an organization freak.  What makes me happier than being organized?  Helping others to become organized.  I love helping others make things work more efficiently for them.  The only exception to this is my friend Shannon's computer.  She doesn't organize any of her pictures into folders.  It makes me absolutely crazy and is too painful to organize!  LOL!
For my planner, I have found that the Five-Star Flex Hybrid Notebinder works the best.  It works like a regular binder, but is flexible and not bulky.  The rings open and close just like a regular binder, which works great for adding on to lists and such.
Here are some of the ways I have organized my binder:

My first page is my "Quick List".  This is where I jot down all my ideas initially in pencil.  This way I can come back later and sort them where I want them to go. Because they are loose sheets of paper, I don't have to deal with messy long lists.  I just use each sheet until it's full and then recycle it.
My next page is "My Compositions".  I keep a little composition book in this pocket and jot down little things I want to be sure to add in certain posts.  Background histories and funny stories are all a part of this book.  They are nowhere near complete stories, just little ideas here and there that I want to be sure and highlight in my posts.
The next section is "Layout".  This is dedicated to all things related to the layout on my blog.  I often have ideas about things I want to change about my layout or fonts.  I write them down here.  I also use this space to house my to-do list for my blog issues. This list often includes link parties I need to link to, emails to be completed, and so on.
The "My Sketches" section is just what it sounds like.  I do simple sketches for things I'd like to create.  The notebook comes with graph paper, so that is what I use.  Of course, I don't need graph paper. I'm not that particular.
"My Bright Ideas" is a section devoted to all those ideas that were initially jotted down in my quick list.  I keep a separate piece of paper for each holiday and craft topic.  I then add my list of projects on each of these pieces of paper. I used to have a little notepad for my list, but it got so messy.  It was impossible to keep ideas organized when you can't add pages where you need to. This binder works perfectly for that purpose now.
Here is an example of one of my lists in my "Ideas" section.
My last section is for "Inspiration".  I just use a page protector and throw any clippings or pictures I see that inspire me to create.
I didn't make a section for my calendar because I use it for more than just my blog and keep it separate.  You could easily fit your planner in here or add some calendar pages if you wanted to.  I use my personal planner to keep track of ad expiration dates and dates that certain posts will run. To hold everything together I just added a ribbon attached with velcro.
I put one piece of velcro on the inside of the cover.
The other is on the front side of the ribbon.  I also attached the other side of the ribbon with velcro to the back of the binder ( you can't see it).
Everything's organized and together! Just the way I like it.
If you have been looking for a solution to keep you more organized and would like to make your own, I have included some printables to help you get started.  The only thing I ask is that you become a subscriber to this blog before downloading them.

Just as a note: The frame is different on the free-printable because I used a clipart from Print Candee for mine. I don't think they would approve of me offering their artwork for free download; so I changed the frame to one that is public domain clipart.

  3. Hey! What a beautiful sweet face smiling at me when I opened your page!! I bet you are the sweetest thing! Ok, down to business: I am hopelessly lost when it comes to organization. Bless your heart for trying to help me and all, but if I did do this binder, I would lay it down somewhere and lose it. Well, I would probably forget to take the pages off of the computer. Seriously. Well, you did your part! I know folks are going to LOVE these printouts! Found you through "I should be mopping" Linky Party! Glad I linked over...Newest follower!!

    1. I totally agree with Vicky, I would make the planner then put it down and lose it!

Thats why I use a print out each week with my planner. If it gets lost it doesn't matter.

I also find that Evernote works wonders as I don't ever lose my phone or laptop (for long periods of time at least), so I always know what I'm doing.

  12. Ohhhhhh

You and I are just alike. I use the same binder type for my life. I find them to fit easy in an oversized pursed and they dont take up to much room. I love how you designed the front and each of the tabs. I am going to use you for inspiration into decorating mine.

Thank you so much for sharing.
